About Katie

Where it all began....

Katie began her journey into music from a very young age. Growing up in a Christian family attending Church regularly every Sunday, Katie would take part in the Sunday School nativity plays, shows and eventually singing with the worship bands. Around her later primary school years, Katie began learning to play the trumpet which we carried on into her high school years. Within the entirety of her high school years, Katie had played with the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Wind and Brass and Jazz bands. She performed with these bands at showcases, school events and concerts all over Scotland including The Old Fruitmarket and performing Lord Sebastian Coe as well as abroad in Paris. The bands often competed in prestigious band competitions, earning themselves Silver, Gold and Platinum awards. Katie would also compete in singing showcases and competitions and began her journey into recording vocals during this time also.

What came next....

After graduating high school, Katie left to study a HNC in Musical Theatre at New College Lanarkshire in Motherwell, where she gained industry training in vocals, acting and dance also performing in shows during this time. After the year ended, Katie decided to take a step back from music and by 2016, had been accepted onto the HNC-HND Music course at The Academy of Music and Sound in Glasgow where she further honed her craft and developed her vocal, songwriting and performance skills as well as learning and gaining industry skills. During this time, Katie also began working and collaborating with other producers and musicians in recording vocals for varieties of projects including original music, covers and ads.

What came after that....

After Katie left the Academy, she took another step back from music, instead focusing on other interests including a course in Photography and online courses in teaching Meditation, Autism Awareness and more. However, she decided to rejoin the music world and began tutoring in vocals and piano with InTune Music Tuition which eventually led her into freelance tutoring with other organisations and music schools including Nu Moves Dance Studio, CultureNL, Rookie Rockstars, Riverside Music College, MGR Music, Andrew Walker School of Music and The Sound Lab. As well as tutoring 1-2-1 tuition, she has also delivered group keyboard classes and numerous vocal, songwriting, performance and improvisational workshops online and in person with The Sound Lab and other organisations such as Kinning Park and an employment charity in Edinburgh.

Before COVID, Katie had began performing as a soloist for weddings and functions and had began piecing together a function band. However, when lockdown hit, Katie taught vocal, piano and songwriting lessons and delivers workshops online via Zoom as well as building up her first home studio and began writing/recording remotely through Fiverr and other freelancer platforms. Katie built up a lengthy portfolio of recording work and also began to write, record and produce meditation tracks also hosting live streams of meditation nights during the lockdowns. As restrictions began to lift, Katie joined a wedding agency and began performing at more and more weddings. She also joined Artax and had written, recorded and released several music releases during this time. Katie also released music under a solo act, Ceiti, which had air time on the BBC Radio station. She also collaborated extensively with other musicians and released a charity single entitled 'Flower Child' with all proceeds going towards WWF UK and SAMH.
